JEJOT.COM FAQ
What is it?
- Is this some kind of blog or free website?
The purpose of this service is not creating a web page or blogging, but saving any notes, links or photos in easy way. You can also forward any email, paste any note or long URL to JeJot, and automatically twit to your Twitter account.
- My content is missing!
If you are an unregistered user, as our TOS says, we may delete your content in 90 days since it's last accessed.
- My friend can't open the content, it's password protected. What's up with that?
Each content, will have each own privacy setting. When you password protected your jots/content, everyone who wants to read the jot must have the password. You can reset its password by sign in to JeJot, open your content and reset the content's password. (Not your account password).
- My friend can't see my jot list.
You need to make your profile public, so your friend can see the list.
- Why don't you display other members' contents on your site?
We believe that not everyone wants to share their private belongings to the world.
Mail posting
- Can I put a password on my content when posting from a mail client?
Yes. Just put '-ppassword' at the end of your subject. i.e. Subject: Hello world, this is my t-shirt -psecret. So, your password will be 'secret'
- What if I send a long URL using email?
You can send with subject or with no subject. JeJot will get the title of the destination page if you don't provide one. JeJot automatically detects if the content is a link
- How many attachment can I submit?
At the moment you can submit just one image. Just attach it to your email. Make sure your email is in plain text when submitting a picture with body content
- When I send you a note using an email client, I am not getting any reply from the server.
Some will have this kind of experience due to encoding type that the system doesn't understand. The best thing you can try is to switch any encoding type from your email client to UTF-8
- How can I integrate this service with Twitter, Facebook, Yahoogroups, etc?
You can always integrate the service with them, every content or link, will have its own short URL. For Twitter users, you can integrate it by clicking the 'Auto Post' to Twitter on your account, so when you send an email with a content, the content will be automatically show up on your Twitter account.
- Can I update my Twitter status using this service?
Yes. If you send the update by email, the subject will be your status. A link to your attachment, and the body content will also be stored at JeJot for easy access later on. BUT, if you send an email with a subject only with no attachment or body of the email, the content won't be stored at JeJot database, but your Twitter status will be updated
Link shortener
- Can I shorten the long URL?
You bet! Just enter the URL and you'll get the short URL, and people who click on it will be shown what the destination will be and the preview of the destination page, so it's safer (You know where you are going).
- Can I shorten the long URL using email?
Yes. Just paste any URL to your email and send it to your private JeJot email address. You get a reply with a shortened URL
- I put www.domainexample.com , but it's not redirected to the that page when I click the shorten URL
Yes, you need to put http://, https://, ftp:// in the beginning of the link for the redirection to work and no space in the begining of the link as well as no rich text formating, otherwise, we think it's a jot.
Twitter integration
- How can I do that?
First, you must integrate your JeJot's account with Twitter under your Account setting. Then, everytime you submit from email client, it will be auto post to your Twitter.
- What if I don't want to auto submit to Twitter for some of my contents?
Just add -ppassword at the end of your subject. The content will be protected by a password and won't be auto posted to your Twitter
